Based in the village of Harrington in the UK, Warner’s Distillery was founded in 2012 at Falls Farm, where the gin is artisanal, created in small batches and uses spring water from the farm itself in the distillation process.
Key Characteristics:
- The brand emphasises using farm-grown ingredients from their property – including the spring water
- There is a large list of ingredients used, such as juniper, coriander seed, elderflower, lemon peel and a ‘secret ingredient’
- The gin is frequently recognised for its distinctive boldness and craftmanship
- It has garnered several awards including gold at both ‘The Gin Masters 2021’ and ‘San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2021’.
Flavour Profile:
The gin is a London Dry style with distinct tasting notes –
- Nose: Bold and spicy, from the pepper and cardamom, with a hint of elderflower and vanilla
- Palate: Juniper leads, then evolves into smooth orange with a hint of cinnamon
- Finish: Long and smooth, with gentle nutmeg and a black pepper spice
How Best to Serve:
The best way to enjoy Warner’s Harrington Gin is a simple serve – with a premium Indian tonic water and a slice of orange. However, given the spice and citrus notes, it also works well with a tonic that isn’t overly sweet, so the botanicals shine through.
Why It Stands Out:
- The provenance is strong – a gin made on a working farm, with spring water on-site that is used in the distillation process
- It’s a perfect example of the ‘farm-to-bottle’ ethos in gin production
- The flavour profile is more robust and “spicy” than some ultra-light gins
