Product Snapshot – Giffard Blue Curacao

Ingredients:

• The base flavour comes from sweet and bitter oranges that are native to the island of Curacao, giving it a unique taste
• The distillate is typically made from a neutral spirit, then infused or distilled with citrus peel oils
• Sugar is normally added to help balance the bitterness of the oranges
• The blue colour does not significantly alter the flavour and is mainly added for visual appeal

Taste & Aroma:

• Aroma: Strong notes of candied orange (sweet and bitter), with a floral/citrus bouquet
• Palate: Citrus dominated by orange flavour, with some bitterness; sometimes hints of vanilla or other supporting flavours
• Finish: Lingering citrus, bitterness from peel oil

Applications:

Often used as a colourful ingredient in cocktails like Blue Lagoon, it adds both flavour and provides the striking blue visual to the drink of choice. Alongside cocktails, it can also work similarly to a triple sec or other orange liqueur, though the bitterness from the peel is more pronounced than other Curacaos. However, for an easier tipple, it can be served neat (over ice).

Ingredients:

• 25ml Giffard Blue Curacao
• 50ml Vodka
• 100ml lemonade (or soda water if you prefer it less sweet)
• Ice Cubes
• Garnish – Lemon slice or Maraschino Cherry (optional)

Method:

1. 1. Fill a tall glass with ice.
2. 2. Add the Vodka and Giffard Blue Curacao.
3. 3. Top up with lemonade (or soda water).
4. 4. Stir gently to mix.
5. 5. Garnish with a lemon slice or cherry for a pop of contrast.

Optional Twist:

• Add a splash of lime juice for extra zing.
• Use coconut rum instead of vodka for a tropical spin.
