Distilled on a family farm in Herefordshire, Chase Vodka is a premium English Vodka that stands out over others – known as a single-estate potato vodka, it means the potatoes used are grown on their land, and the entire process happens on the estate.
Ingredients & Production:
- The farm grows a variety of high-starch potatoes that are particularly well suited for distilling, such as Lady Claire, Lady Rosetta and Maris Piper.
- It’s claimed that around 250 potatoes go into each bottle of Chase English Vodka.
- As noted above, the entire vodka is made on the estate – from ‘field to bottle’.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Creamy, with hints of vanilla and white pepper for a subtle spice
- Palate: Buttery and creamy notes
- Finish: Smooth, warming hints of vanilla
How It Stands Out:
The single-estate label gives the product authenticity and provenance, allowing customers to know exactly where their drink is coming from. Being a potato-based vodka also provides a richer ‘mouthfeel’ and more textured experience than many grain-based vodka – which also means it is a good option for a sippable vodka (neat or chilled), due to its ‘mouthfeel’ and flavour characteristics.
Serving Suggestions:
- Serve neat and chilled, or with a large ice cube to appreciate the flavour and texture.
- Use in a premium vodka-martini where the spirit itself can shine.
- Try with light mixers that won’t overpower the vodka – such as soda water and lemon twist – to help retain the potato-vodka character.
