Brewed by Eagle Brewery in Bedford, England, this specific Amber Beer is positioned under the Bombardier brand, which emphasises “march to your own drum” – a message to be an independent spirit amongst others. It was previously known as “Bombardier Glorious English Ale”, and in some markets “Bombardier Premium British Ale”, however its current title highlights the copper/amber colour of the beer, perhaps to make it more memorable for their customer base.
Taste Profile & Ingredients:
- Style: Traditional hopped amber beer
- Appearance: Copper / amber colour
- Aroma: Citrus / spicy / biscuit
- Taste: Smooth and sweet
- Ingredients: Uses fresh mineral water from the Eagle Brewery’s well, along with various British hops (such as Fuggles) and crushed crystal malt.
Serving Suggestions:
To truly appreciate the colour and aroma, it is recommended to serve chilled and in a clean, clear glass. The beer also pairs well with a variety of food, including:
- Steak and Chips
- Steak and Kidney Pudding
- Chocolate Gateaux
- Chocolate and Hazelnut Torte
Though Bombardier Amber Beer may seem somewhat ‘mainstream’ compared to more modern craft beers, it is most certainly a dependable and classic British ale with good malt-hops balance. Its also a great choice for fans of English bitters/ales who want something slightly richer, but is still smooth to drink – perhaps thanks to the quality ingredients the brewery claims to use.
